Where We Started

Remotely Speaking was born out of the frustrations of one solo practitioner psychiatrist: Dr. Audrey Moss of Arlington, Virginia. Dr. Moss was struggling to stay ahead of her patients' administrative demands. Like many psychiatrists in private practice, she worked alone in her office and bore all of the clinical and administrative responsibilities. She loved her clinical work but hated the administrative demands that came with running a solo practice. Clearly, one of the more time consuming demands was the daily barrage of phone calls and voicemail messages. Despite spending many hours each week attempting to service all of her patients' requests, she just never seemed to catch up.

Remotely Speaking LLC, formerly a medical billing and credentialing firm, was under contract with Dr. Moss. Out of her growing frustration, she asked if we would be able to assist her with her telephone administration, listening to her voicemails and getting back to her patients on her behalf. We agreed to assist her on a trial basis. We quickly discovered that roughly 95% of the daily calls were non-clinical in nature. These calls could easily and quickly be handled "remotely", often with very little to no input from the doctor. She immediately experienced a great sense of relief and was overjoyed with her newfound freedom. In fact, she was so happy that she began telling her fellow psychiatrists about us. It didn't take long to see that there was a big demand for such a valuable service.

Remotely Speaking has come a very long way in the last 15 years. We concentrate 100% of our efforts on remote practice administration. We no longer simply check voicemails and return calls. In fact, we have virtually eliminated voicemail altogether. We do this by forwarding your practice phone line directly to your individually assigned, experienced psychiatry practice administrator. Your administrator quickly becomes a valuable member of your team who works with your patients daily. We have since helped countless struggling and overwhelmed psychiatrists and we are now helping new psychiatrists avoid the pitfalls of "going it alone". Freedom is just around the corner.

*We owe our success and business model in large part to Dr. Audrey Moss, an amazing doctor, a beautiful human being and personal friend, who lost her battle to cancer in 2009. She will never be forgotten.
